O Ron-Ron do Gatinho
O gato é uma maquininha
que a natureza inventou;
tem pêlo, bigode, unhas
e dentro tem um motor.
Mas um motor diferente
desses que tem nos bonecos
porque o motor do gato
não é um motor elétrico.
É um motor afetivo
que bate em seu coração
por isso ele faz ron-ron
para mostrar gratidão.
No passado se dizia
que esse ron-ron tão doce
era causa de alergia
pra quem sofria de tosse.
Tudo bobagem, despeito,
calúnias contra o bichinho:
esse ron-ron em seu peito
não é doença - é carinho
The Kitty's Purr
The cat is a little machine
that nature invented;
has fur, whiskers, claws
and inside has an engine.
But a different engine
from those in toys
because the cat's engine
is not an electric motor.
It's an affectionate engine
that beats in its heart
that's why it purrs
to show gratitude.
In the past it was said
that this sweet purr
was the cause of allergies
for those who suffered from coughs.
All nonsense, spite,
slanders against the little animal:
this purr in its chest
is not a disease - it's affection
