Businessman

Alax William

Suit and tie, I start my day
Tall glass buildings in my way
Meetings, numbers, papers signed
But a dirt road fills my mind

Traffic lights and neon signs
Busy streets and strict deadlines
City life is fast and loud
But I miss the open ground

I make my living in this town
But my roots are country ground
One gives money, one gives peace
One won't let my heart release

Front porch nights and gravel roads
Fields of green and lighter loads
Simple life and starry skies
Freedom shining in my eyes

Here I climb a corporate line
There the sunset still feels mine
Every day I feel that call
Country heart above it all

The city builds the man I am
But the farm is where I began
No matter where I choose to roam
There's a voice that calls me home

I'm a businessman in a city of stone
But a country boy when I'm alone
There's a tractor track in my soul
That no skyline can control

Concrete streets under my shoes
But it's the country that I choose
No matter how far I roam
My roots will lead me home

Maybe one day I'll go back
Trade these streets for railroad tracks
Till that day I walk this line
City world and country mind

I'm a businessman in a city of stone
But a country boy when I'm alone
There's a tractor track in my soul
That no skyline can control

Concrete streets under my shoes
But it's the country that I choose
No matter how far I roam
My roots will lead me home

I'm a businessman in a city of stone
But a country boy when I'm alone
There's a tractor track in my soul
That no skyline can control

Concrete streets under my shoes
But it's the country that I choose
No matter how far I roam
My roots will lead me home

Suit and tie but boots inside
Country heart I cannot hide
No matter where these highways roam
My heart still beats back home
