Abran Cancha

Milonga del arrabal
vos sos la mujer
del tango celoso y triste
la que en una noche
de canyengue lo engrupiste
al que ver tu cuerpo
retobado de percal
te llevó para el bulín
te arregló al compás
y así te llamó milonga
y cuando aprendiste
el quebrao de meta y ponga
te llevó pa'l cafetín.

Era la más preferida
de los barrio orilleros,
pero vino un forastero
que en tus notas se inspiró.
Te hizo un chamuyo de foxtrot,
con acordes a derroche
y en la penumbra de una noche
del arrabal te piantó.

Milonga del arrabal,
que al pobre gotán
lo abandonaste de un pique
con el berretín
de quererle dar un dique
con tu gigoló
anclando en la diagonal.
Y al ver que lo habías dejao
de bronca y dolor,
se pilló unas cuantas copas
se cachó un vapor
y se fue derecho a Europa
dejando un cartel sentao.

Era la más preferida
de los barrio orilleros,
pero vino un forastero
que te llevó para tu mal.
Y al ver que lleno de gloria
volvió el tango con su acento
te entró el arrepentimiento
y volviste al arrabal.

Open Field

In the outskirts milonga
you are the woman
of the jealous and sad tango
the one in a night
of swagger you fooled
the one who seeing your body
covered in cheap fabric
took you to the brothel
fixed you to the beat
and that's why he called you milonga
and when you learned
the moves of passion and power
he took you to the cafe.

You were the most preferred
in the outskirts neighborhoods,
but a stranger came
who was inspired by your notes.
He sweet-talked you with foxtrot,
with lavish chords
and in the darkness of a night
he ditched you in the outskirts.

In the outskirts milonga,
that to the poor guy
you left in a flash
with the whim
of wanting to block him
with your gigolo
anchoring in the diagonal.
And seeing that you had left him
out of anger and pain,
he downed a few drinks
got a buzz
and went straight to Europe
leaving a sign behind.

You were the most preferred
in the outskirts neighborhoods,
but a stranger came
who took you to your downfall.
And seeing that full of glory
tango returned with its accent
you felt regret
and returned to the outskirts.
