Black Luck

Alfredo Le Pera

Suerte negra

Suerte negra

Dicen que jurar en vano
es maldad que se castiga,
pero en su pecho inhumano
hay crueldad y me mintió.
Con su sonrisa más fina
me dijo: "Te quiero yo",
y una noche de neblina
con un viejo se fugó.
Ayer me fui al cementerio
con mi pena a terminar,
pero yo soy de suerte tan negra
que no quisieron dejarme entrar.

Cuando conmigo vivías
y conmigo suspirabas,
me decías que me amabas
porque tenías mi cantar.
¡Ingrata!, al verte con otro
tuve ganas de matar,
pero pensé que eras huérfana
y me puse a sollozar.
Ahora, como ave sin rumbo,
sólo tengo mi canción:
y se bien que si ustedes la oyen
sentirán llorar mi corazón.

Black Luck

Black Luck

They say that swearing in vain
is a wickedness that is punished,
but in his inhuman chest
there is cruelty and he lied to me.
With his finest smile
he said to me: 'I love you',
and one foggy night
he ran away with an old man.
Yesterday I went to the cemetery
to end my sorrow,
but I am so black lucky
that they didn't want to let me in.

When you lived with me
and sighed with me,
you told me you loved me
because you had my song.
Ungrateful!, seeing you with another
made me want to kill,
but I thought you were an orphan
and I started to cry.
Now, like a bird without direction,
I only have my song:
and I know that if you hear it
you will feel my heart cry.
