Heaven and earth
begin in the unnamed:
name's the mother
of the ten thousand things.
So the unwanting soul
see what's hidden,
and the ever-wanting soul
sees only what it wants.
Two things, one origin,
but different in name,
whose identity is mystery.
Mystery of all mysteries!

El camino que puedes seguir
no es el verdadero camino.
El nombre que puedes decir
no es el verdadero nombre.
El cielo y la tierra
comienzan en lo innombrado:
el nombre es la madre
de las diez mil cosas.
Así, el alma que no desea
ve lo oculto,
y el alma que siempre desea
solo ve lo que quiere.
Dos cosas, un origen,
pero diferentes en nombre,
cuya identidad es un misterio.
