Execution of General Felipe Ángeles

Antonio Aguilar

Fusilamiento del General Felipe Ángeles

En 1920
Señores, tengan presente
Fusilaron en Chihuahua
A un general muy valiente

En el Cerro de la Mora
Le tocó la mala suerte
Lo tomaron prisionero
Lo sentenciaron a muerte

Ángeles mandó un escrito
Al Congreso de la Unión
A ver si lo perdonaba
Y alcanzaba salvación

Pero no le permitieron
Por ser un reo militar
Y dijo a sus compañeros
Ya me van a fusilar

Cantaba una palomita
Cuando estaba prisionero
Se acordaba de sus tiempos
Cuando él era guerrillero

De artillero, comenzó
Su carrera militar
Dentro de poquito tiempo
Llegó a ser un general

El reloj marca sus horas
Se llegó la ejecución
Preparen muy buen sus armas
Apúntenme al corazón

Yo no soy de los cobardes
Que le temen a la muerte
La muerte no mata a nadie
La matadora es la suerte

Ya con esta me despido
Por las hojas de un hogar
Fusilaron en Chihuahua
A un valiente general

Execution of General Felipe Ángeles

In 1920
Gentlemen, keep in mind
They executed in Chihuahua
A very brave general

On the Hill of the Mora
He had bad luck
They took him prisoner
They sentenced him to death

Ángeles sent a letter
To the Congress of the Union
To see if they would forgive him
And he would reach salvation

But they did not allow it
Because he was a military prisoner
And he said to his comrades
They are going to execute me

A little dove was singing
When he was a prisoner
He remembered his times
When he was a guerrilla

He started as a gunner
His military career
In a short time
He became a general

The clock marks his hours
The execution arrived
Prepare your weapons well
Aim at my heart

I am not one of the cowards
Who fear death
Death does not kill anyone
Luck is the killer

With this I bid farewell
Through the leaves of a home
They executed in Chihuahua
A brave general
