see the man standing in the doorway
(down at the bible house)
he's got a meat hook in his hand
there's a slab hanging in the closet
gonna drag that meat to the promised land
see the girl working in the kitchen
she's got scars up and down her arms
cigarette burning in the ashtray
you wouldn't think that it could do any harm
everybody's happy
everybody's smiling
you wonder if it's really true
all the little sinners
underneath the floor
you wonder what they really do
see the group gathered in a circle
holding hands and waiting for a sign
there's a smell coming through the floorboards
you know that devil's been here all this time
see the crowd coming up the driveway
the good people of the town
they've got gasoline and matches
they're gonna burn that hell house down
everybody's happy
everybody's smiling
you wonder if it's really true
