Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong
Under the shade of a coolibak tree.
And he sang as he watched and waited till the billy boiled,

And he sang as he watched...
Oh, up came a jumbuck and he drank at the billabong.
Up jumped the swagman and he grabbed him with glee.
And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag,
"You'll come a-walzing Matilda with me!"
Well, up came the squatter and he's mounted on his thoroughbred,
Up came the troopers one, two, three,
"Where's that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag?
You'll come a-walzing Matlida with me!"
Up jumped the swagman and he jumped into the billabong,
"You'll never catch me alive!" said he.
And his gost may be heard as you pass by that billabong
"You'll come a-walzing Matilda with me!"
Bailando con Matilda
Un día un alegre vagabundo acampó junto a un arroyo
Bajo la sombra de un árbol de eucalipto.
Y cantaba mientras observaba y esperaba a que el agua hirviera,
'¡Vendrás a bailar con Matilda conmigo!'

Y cantaba mientras observaba...
Oh, llegó un cordero y bebió en el arroyo.
El vagabundo saltó y lo agarró con alegría.
Y cantaba mientras metía ese cordero en su bolsa de provisiones,
'¡Vendrás a bailar con Matilda conmigo!'
Bueno, llegó el terrateniente y montó en su purasangre,
Llegaron los policías uno, dos, tres,
'¿Dónde está ese alegre cordero que tienes en tu bolsa de provisiones?
¡Vendrás a bailar con Matilda conmigo!'
El vagabundo saltó y se lanzó al arroyo,
'¡Nunca me atraparán vivo!' dijo él.
Y su espíritu se escucha mientras pasas por ese arroyo,
'¡Vendrás a bailar con Matilda conmigo!
