Chestnut Horse Star

Los Cadetes de Linares

Caballo Alazán Lucero

Caballo alazán lucero,
Que por ligero, que bueno fuiste
Ganaste muchas carreras,
Yo bien recuerdo, nunca perdiste

Y no dando tiempo a nada,
Con cinco balas rodaste herido,
Caíste junto a la yegua,
Tú que por ella, habías perdido

Moriste viendo a la yegua,
Como diciendo, esta usted servida
Caballo alazán lucero
Hoy tú recuerdo no se me olvida

Chestnut Horse Star

Chestnut horse star,
How swift, how good you were
You won many races,
I remember well, you never lost

You never suffered defeat,
From coast to coast, it wasn't a lie
Until that mare arrived,
For whom you lost, even your life

Her eyes also dark,
She fixed them on yours, as if saying
That in those five hundred yards,
You let her, arrive first

I have it very present,
Everyone bet on you
And your owner very sure,
Risked his great fortune

When leaving the starting gate,
I saw the mare, almost flying,
And you not running violently,
Giving her time to beat you

Chestnut horse star,
Like a gentleman, with a lady
Your owner's fortune,
By a body and a half, ended up in nothing

Your owner desperate,
Taking hold of his pistol,
If they have won everything from me
This horse alone bothers me

And not giving time for anything,
With five bullets you fell wounded,
You fell next to the mare,
You who had lost for her

You died watching the mare,
As if saying, you are served
Chestnut horse star
Today your memory, I don't forget
