One day, September 10th, on a Sunday that passed
In the Matamoros port, a night watchman killed him

Dimas left Reynosa, in his prepared car
To visit his lover, that's what he had planned

Dimas and two companions, were drinking in a cabaret
As they were afraid of him, everyone was getting ready

The fearful night watchman, afraid Dimas would kill him
Ordered the employees to disarm him

First Adán and Cantú, took away his gun
And also Cayetano, who they found in the car

They arrested Dimas, as he was about to intervene
They hit him from behind, didn't let him escape

Suddenly Miguel Balderas, fired his gun
With two accurate shots, pierced his skull

Goodbye beloved Reynosa, pride of the border
Where Dimas used to stroll, with his gun visible

With this, I bid you farewell, gentlemen of this region
Here ends the ballad, Dimas de León has died
