The Boy and the Colt

The Boy and the Colt

A terrible noise they made
Upon arriving at the humble place
The steel spurs, they squeaked
Not even the dogs wanted to bark

They smashed the rifle butt
On the door of the sad shack
A boy's face is outlined
As he opens the door of the shack

All I have is my colt
But they can't take it away
Nor will I exchange it for another
Only dead will they take it from me

They push him out into the courtyard
In the moonlight, it shines
The coat of the noble horse
That the mob is coming to take
He writhes and stands on his hind legs
Seeing his master they are going to hang

From the highest branch of an ash tree
They managed to pass a rope
The boy looks calm
Not even death can scare him
Only a supreme miracle
Or his colt can save him

A whistle is suddenly heard
And the neigh of the fierce animal
Turned into a mere demon
He throws himself and starts kicking
The boy jumps on his back
In their faces he was able to mock

He joins the people of the town
His courage begins to show
Every moment he risks his life
He doesn't tire of searching so much
For the men who out of pure envy
Wanted to hang him from a tree
