Bald Godfather

Carlos Gardel

Padrino Pelado

Saraca, muchachos! Dequera, un casorio!
Uy Dio, que de minas! Ta todo alfombrao!
Y aquellos pebetes, goriones de barrio,
acuden gritando:"Padrino pelao!"

oste non me dentra.
Me sun dado coenta
que oste es un colao".

"Saraca, muchachos:gritemos más fuerte!
Uy Dio, que amarrete! Ni un cobre ha tirao...
Que bronca, muchachos! Se hizo el otario.
Gritemos, Pulguita! Padrino Pelao!"

Y aquella pebeta que esta en la vereda
contempla con pena la novia al pasar.
Se llena de angustia su alma marchita
pensando que nunca tendra el blanco ajuar.

Bald Godfather

Hell yeah, guys! What a wedding!
Oh God, so many chicks! It's all set up!
And those young guys, tough guys from the neighborhood,
they come shouting: 'Bald godfather!'

The neighborhood is stirred up with their commotion...
There, on the sidewalk, you can see, among the crowd,
the withered face of some young girl
who has already lost her illusion forever.

And so, quietly,
the old ladies from the neighborhood
comment on the matter
with admiration:

'Did you see, ma'am,
what a shamelessness?
Wearing white
after sinning!'

And an Italian tough guy
grumbles at the door
because a jerk
stole his stew:

'Here, in this house,
you don't come in.
I've been told
that you're a freeloader.'

Hell yeah, guys: let's shout louder!
Oh God, what a cheapskate! Hasn't thrown a penny...
How annoying, guys! He's playing dumb.
Shout, Pulguita! Bald Godfather!'

And that young girl on the sidewalk
watches sadly as the bride goes by.
Her withered soul fills with anguish
thinking she will never have the white trousseau.
