My city

Cecilia

Arrancan flores y plantan faroles,
Ensanchan calles,
Asfaltan valles.

My city

My city was made of glass and cement,
They tear out flowers and plant streetlights,
Widen streets,
Pave valleys.

My city was made of noises and smells.
They are horizons of skyscrapers,
Clouds of black smoke,
Colorful ads.

If there could be solutions,
Breathing without lungs,
Growing without playing,
It wouldn't be bad to live in my city.

My city was made with asphalt and no air,
With old men sitting on benches in the sun,
Children playing soccer
In the middle of the street.

If there could be solutions,
Breathing without lungs,
Growing without playing,
It wouldn't be bad to live in my city.
