A Place In The Choir
All god's creatures got a place in the choir,
Some sing low and some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands or paws or anything they got.
Well listen to the bass its the one on the bottom,
Where the bullfrog croaks and the hippopotamus,
Moans and groans with a big to do,
And the old cow just goes moo.
The dogs and the cats, they take up the middle,
Where the honeybee hums and the cricket fiddles,
The donkey brays and the pony neighs,
And the old gray badger sighs.
Listen to the top with the little birds singing,
And the melodies and the high notes ringing,
And the hoot-owl cries over everything,
And the blackbird disagrees.
Singing in the night time singing in the day,
And the little duck quacks and he's on his way,
And the otter hasn't got much to say,
And the porcupine talks to himself.
Its a simple song living song everywhere,
By the ox and the fox and the grizzly bear,
The grumpy alligator and the hawk above,
The sly old weasel and the turtledove.
Une Place Dans le Chœur
Tous les créatures de Dieu ont leur place dans le chœur,
Certains chantent bas et d'autres chantent haut,
Certains crient fort sur le fil du téléphone,
D'autres applaudissent juste avec leurs mains ou pattes ou tout ce qu'ils ont.
Écoute la basse, c'est celle du fond,
Où le crapaud coasse et l'hippopotame,
Grogne et se plaint avec un grand bruit,
Et la vieille vache se contente de meugler.
Les chiens et les chats, ils occupent le milieu,
Où l'abeille bourdonne et le grillon joue,
L'âne brait et le poney hennit,
Et le vieux blaireau gris soupire.
Écoute le haut avec les petits oiseaux chantant,
Et les mélodies et les notes aiguës résonnant,
Et le hibou hulule sur tout,
Et le merle n'est pas d'accord.
Chantant dans la nuit, chantant dans le jour,
Et le petit canard cancane et il est en route,
Et l'otter n'a pas grand-chose à dire,
Et le porc-épic parle tout seul.
C'est une chanson simple, une chanson vivante partout,
Par l'ox et le renard et l'ours grizzly,
Le crocodile grincheux et le faucon au-dessus,
Le vieux putois rusé et la tourterelle.
