El Hijo Del Granadero
El padre del estudiante
no es el cochero que va al pescante;
el hijo del granadero
si es estudiante va pa'l agujero.
Te pico y te saco un ojo
y luego dices que no te quiero
porque uso casco de acero
de granadero, de granadero.
Mi padre era granadero,
vendía granadas como no veas;
si tu padre es un bombero
no vende bombas, nomás bombea.
Si te fijas en mi mami
la ves chapeada como granada;
si te fijas en la tuya
la ves bombeada, no bombardeada.
No es lo mismo estar dormido
que estar durmiendo, que estar durmiendo;
no es lo mismo estar perdido
que estar perdiendo, que estar perdiendo;
no es lo mismo estar bebido
que estar bebiendo, que estar bebiendo;
no es lo mismo estar comido
que estar comiendo, que estar comiendo.
Mi padre era granadero,
y era re cuate del estudiante;
les daba pa' sus granadas,
les apostaba por el Atlante.
Hoy les da para sus tunas
por atracito y por adelante;
hoy dice que vive triste,
pero prefiere ser ignorante.
Por hijo de granadero
voy a la escuela y soy humillante;
por ser estudiante hay pero,
pues en mi casa soy intrigante.
Me rompen dos veces diarias
todo el hocico sin usar guante;
en la escuela los muchachos
y allá en mi casa... mi comandante
The Son of the Grenadier
The father of the student
isn't the driver up front;
the son of the grenadier
if he's a student, he's headed for trouble.
I'll poke you and take an eye
and then you say I don't care
'cause I wear a steel helmet
of a grenadier, of a grenadier.
My dad was a grenadier,
selling grenades like you wouldn't believe;
if your dad's a firefighter
he doesn't sell bombs, just puts out fires.
If you look at my mom
she's decked out like a grenade;
if you look at yours
she's just a mess, not bombed out.
It's not the same to be asleep
as it is to be sleeping, to be sleeping;
it's not the same to be lost
as it is to be losing, to be losing;
it's not the same to be drunk
as it is to be drinking, to be drinking;
it's not the same to be eaten
as it is to be eating, to be eating.
My dad was a grenadier,
and he was tight with the student;
he'd give them grenades,
betting on the Atlante.
Now he gives them cactus fruit
for a little bit and then some more;
today he says he lives sad,
but he'd rather stay ignorant.
Because I'm the son of a grenadier
I go to school and it's humiliating;
because I'm a student, there's trouble,
but at home, I'm the one stirring things up.
They break my face twice a day
without wearing gloves;
at school, the kids
and back at home... my commander.
