The Two Brothers

Chavela Vargas

Los Dos Hermanos

Este es el nuevo corrido
Que yo les vengo a cantar,
De dos hermanos muy buenos
Que tuvieron que pelear.

Juan luis, uno se llamaba,
El otro jose manuel
Y empezaron las discordias
Por una mala mujer.

Llegó juan luis a una fiesta,
Con la mujer que quería,
Esto presente lo tengo,
El año treinta corría.

En eso llegó su hermano
Con la guitarra en la mano
Y empezó cantando coplas
Como retando a su hermano.

Mira juan luis, que te digo,
Esa mujer ya fué mía...
No tengo la culpa hermano,
Eso yo no lo sabía...

A su muy buena pistola,
Jose manuel echó mano,
De dos balazos mató
A la mujer de su hermano.

José manuel... Lo que has hecho,
Hoy mismo te va a pesar...
Mataste a lo que quería,
Con tu vida haz de pagar...

Se salieron para afuera
Y se oyeron dos disparos
Y en el quicio de una puerta
Los dos hermanos quedaron.

The Two Brothers

This is the new ballad
That I come to sing to you,
About two very good brothers
Who had to fight.

Juan Luis, one was called,
The other Jose Manuel
And the discord began
Because of a bad woman.

Juan Luis arrived at a party,
With the woman he loved,
I have this present,
The year thirty was running.

Then his brother arrived
With the guitar in hand
And started singing verses
Challenging his brother.

Look Juan Luis, what I tell you,
That woman was already mine...
I'm not to blame brother,
I didn't know that...

With his very good gun,
Jose Manuel grabbed it,
With two shots he killed
His brother's woman.

Jose Manuel... What you've done,
Today you will regret...
You killed what I loved,
You will pay with your life...

They went outside
And two shots were heard
And in the doorway
The two brothers lay.
