The Pink Panther And Me

Cidinha de Almeida

When I was just a little girl
I had a temper, I confess
A boy looked at me, laughed out loud
And got himself into a mess

He pointed at me with a grin
Hey, look! The pink panther's here!
I didn't think that joke was funny
I made that very, very clear!

Oh, pink panther, pink panther
Who could ever guess?
I got so mad when he said your name
But life can make a mess!

Pink panther, pink panther
Funny how things go
The one I didn't want to be
Became the one I loved the most!

I gave that boy a little kick
Oh, yes, I really did!
I thought he had insulted me
I was an angry little kid

But then one day I saw that panther
So clever, funny, cool and pink
I watched the show and fell in love
Life changed my mind, what do you think?

Oh, pink panther, pink panther
Who could ever guess?
I got so mad when he said your name
But life can make a mess!

Pink panther, pink panther
Funny how things go
The one I didn't want to be
Became the one I loved the most!

Then came the toys, the laughs, the stories
And suddenly I understood
That boy had called me pink panther
Maybe that wasn't quite so bad!

Years went by, but I remember
That little girl who couldn't see
The panther she once fought against
Would mean so much in memory

Oh, pink panther, pink panther
Look at us today!
You started with a little kick
And never went away!

Pink panther, pink panther
Now the joke is clear
The character I once rejected
Became my favorite through the years!

And if that boy could see me now
I'd laugh and simply say
You called me pink panther long ago
And maybe you were right that day!
