The Way to Golgotha

Creuza Ferreira

Caminho do Gólgota

Lá no caminho do gólgota vejo sofrendo

Vejo no monte calvário, alí expirar

Deus lá do alto céus, a tudo olhando

Vejo no monte calvário, alí expirar

Vejo no monte calvário, alí expirar

The Way to Golgotha

There on the road to Golgotha I see suffering
My beloved Jesus, there is a journey ahead
The cross weighed heavily on His shoulders as He went there groaning
Not having someone by your side to support you

I see with the eyes of faith, His footsteps in the sand
I see him on Mount Calvary, there he will expire
I see him nailed to the cross, with a tender gaze
Praying and saying to the Father: It is finished

God, from the highest heavens, watching over everything
Seeing His son how hard it was to climb Calvary
I had the power to free him from that agony
But it was a mystery at this hour, the fulfillment of the scripture

I see with the eyes of faith, His footsteps in the sand
I see him on Mount Calvary, there he will expire
I see him nailed to the cross, with a tender gaze
Praying and saying to the Father: It is finished

As the Lamb of God, He did not open His mouth
He went to the slaughterhouse without complaining
There was no beauty whatsoever in His face
Trampled by sins, without ever sinning

I see with the eyes of faith, His footsteps in the sand
I see him on Mount Calvary, there he will expire
I see him nailed to the cross, with a tender gaze
Praying and saying to the Father: It is finished
