The Debt

Daniel F

que cantaba sus coplas extrañas debajo del sol;
a encontrarme contigo y conmigo
y buscabamos rumbos
Y hoy me siento a tu lado
y es como soñar.
Y es que hoy,
amiga,
me quiero endeudar...

The Debt

Despite having cleared my accounts,
Having balanced my payments
The debt sits, waiting
And looks at me, with a face that I still owe something
And pencil in hand, it gets ready to confront
And shows me its figures
That since my early cradle
The story has hardened
And nothing is the same anymore
From the times of my father, my father's father
Who sang his strange verses under the sun;
When the forests were still the guardians of the globe,
And the seas spoke of everything and cradled your feet.
There are debts, my friend
That are unpayable,
Not even saving for a thousand years will you be able to finish.
Go home, boy,
There... you will know.
And I remembered the days
When I went to the center of the south,
With my compass in hand
To meet you and myself
And we searched for directions
We tied my shadow to yours
Without letting the magic fade away
I was just a beggar for your voice.
And now I talk at night, safe from the cold
And I think about what was said, and it's true.
Someone has mistakenly sent some joy this way
And I am surprised to touch this bit of happiness.
And today I sit by your side
And it's like dreaming.
And today,
Friend,
I want to get into debt...
