Babs and Babs lay dreaming in a four poster bed
Arm in arm, head to head, Babs and Babs
Babs said, "Whatcha thinking?"
She said, "Nothing
But I never do 'cause I leave it up to you"
Babs looked out the window
Saw the moon and the sky
She saw the clouds drifting by
Voices crying and sighing and dying but she said nothing
"Look out on the lawn, there's a moon out tonight
There's a moon out tonight, can'tcha see?"
"Silver dreams don't move me or your talk of the stars
And this isn't the time or place to make a fool of me.
No one wants to hear you when you're slipping away
And the light of your day always shows up the strength of your vision."
But she said nothing.
So Babs said "Don't you worry, I'll take good care of you
You're lack of feeling's a rotten thing
But I'll show you what to do.

Babs said "Don't you patronize me, I'm fine the way I am
At least I know what's happening
And I know just where I stand.

So they turn, with a sigh, Babs and Babs
Have to be together like the night and the day
So they might as well stay the best of friends.
Locked in love we leave them with the moon in the sky
With the clouds drifting by

Babs et Babs rêvent dans un lit à baldaquin
Bras dessus, bras dessous, Babs et Babs
Babs a dit : "À quoi tu penses ?"
Elle a dit : "Rien
Mais je ne pense jamais, je te laisse faire."
Babs regarda par la fenêtre
Vit la lune et le ciel
Elle vit les nuages passer
Des voix qui pleurent, soupirent et meurent mais elle ne dit rien.
"Regarde dans le jardin, il y a une lune ce soir
Il y a une lune ce soir, tu ne vois pas ?"
"Les rêves en argent ne m'émeuvent pas ni ton blabla sur les étoiles
Et ce n'est ni le moment ni l'endroit pour me ridiculiser.
Personne ne veut t'entendre quand tu t'éloignes
Et la lumière de ta journée montre toujours la force de ta vision."
Mais elle ne dit rien.
Alors Babs a dit : "Ne t'inquiète pas, je prendrai soin de toi
Ton manque de sentiments, c'est vraiment pourri
Mais je vais te montrer quoi faire.
Fille, tu dois t'en aller
Fille, tu dois ressentir, oh ouais."
Babs a dit : "Ne me prends pas de haut, je vais bien comme je suis
Au moins je sais ce qui se passe
Et je sais exactement où je me situe.

Jamais de compromis, jamais d'accord
Alors elles se retournent, avec un soupir, Babs et Babs
Doivent être ensemble comme la nuit et le jour
Alors autant rester les meilleures amies.
Enfermées dans l'amour, on les laisse avec la lune dans le ciel
Avec les nuages qui passent
