Corriente and Canelo

David Tarapues

Corriente y Canelo

Llego a Queretaro lejos
Miro en San Luis las estrellas

Y un amanecer sus huellas
En matehuala dejo
Que perro, pero que noble animal
Que perro nunca se ah de olvidar

Cuando paso por Saltillo
Topo con muchos coyotes
Mato y corrio por los montes
Para su viaje seguir

En Monterrey y sabinas
Sintio que pronto lo hallaba
Cansado ya se doblaba
Pero no quizo dormir

Luego cruzo la frontera
Ventiando del otro lado
Al amo que había buscado
Hasta que al fin lo encontro

Se echo en una sepultura
Donde estaba un letrero
Aquí se encuentra un brasero
Y el noble perro murio

Corriente and Canelo

He left following the trail
Of the master who didn't return
It had been more than three days
That he didn't want to eat

He was common and cinnamon
The dog that I refer to
They called him fandanguero
When they saw him grow

What a dog, but what a noble animal
That dog I will never forget
One October night
From San Juan del Rio

He didn't feel hunger or cold
He wanted to find his master
He arrived far in Queretaro
He looked at the stars in San Luis

And at dawn his tracks
He left in Matehuala
What a dog, but what a noble animal
That dog I will never forget

When he passed through Saltillo
He encountered many coyotes
He killed and ran through the mountains
To continue his journey

In Monterrey and Sabinas
He felt he was soon finding him
Tired, he was already bending
But he didn't want to sleep

Then he crossed the border
Sniffing on the other side
The master he had been looking for
Until he finally found him

He lay in a grave
Where there was a sign
Here lies a brazier
And the noble dog died
