Del ancho mar sonoro, fui pez en los cristales
que tuve los reflejos de gemas y metales
por eso amo la espuma, los agrios peñascales
las brisas salitrosas, los vividos corales
Después aleve mi hora de tintes caprichosos
magnéticas pupilas, colmillos venenosos
por eso amo las ciénagas, los parajes umbrosos
los húmedos crepúsculos, los bosques calurosos
Tórneme luego en águila de porte audaz y fiero
tuve alas poderosas y garras de fino acero
por eso amo la nube, el alto pico austero
el espacio sin limites y el aire vocinglero
Hoy convertido en hombre por ordenes oscuras
siento en mi ser los gérmenes de existencia futuras
Vidas que han de encumbrarse a mayores alturas
o que han de convertirse en génesis impuras
A que lejana estrella voy a tender el vuelo
cuando se llegue la hora de buscar otro cielo
A que astro de ventura o planeta de duelo
ira a posarse mi alma cuando deje este suelo
O descendiendo en breve por secretas razones
de la terrestre vida todos los escalones
aguardaré en le limbo de largas gestaciones
el sagrado momento de nuevas ascensiones.

From the wide sonorous sea, I was a fish in the crystals
that had the reflections of gems and metals
that's why I love the foam, the sour cliffs
the salty breezes, the vivid corals
Then my hour turned capricious tints
magnetic pupils, venomous fangs
that's why I love the swamps, the shady places
the humid twilights, the warm forests
I then became an eagle with bold and fierce bearing
had powerful wings and claws of fine steel
that's why I love the cloud, the austere high peak
the limitless space and the chatty air
Now turned into a man by dark orders
I feel in my being the germs of future existences
Lives that will rise to greater heights
or that will become impure genesis
To which distant star will I soar
when the time comes to seek another sky
To which star of fortune or planet of mourning
will my soul alight when it leaves this ground
Or descending soon for secret reasons
from the earthly life all the steps
I will wait in limbo for long gestations
the sacred moment of new ascensions.
