Alone until my eighteenth year we met four springs ago
She was shy and had a fear of things she did not know
But we got it on together in such a super way
We held each other close at night and traded dreams each day
She said Rocky I've never been in love before don't know if I can do it
But if you let me lean on you take my hand I might get through it through it
I said baby oh sweet baby it's love that sets us free
And God knows if the world should end your love is safe with me
We found an old grey house and you would not believe the way
We worked at night to fix it up took classes in the day
Painting walls and sipping wine sleeping on the floor
With so much love with just too soon we found there'd be one more
And she said Rocky...
We had lots of problems then but we had lots of fun
Like the birthday party when our baby girl turned one
I was proud and satisfied life had so much to give
Till the day they told me back she didn't have long to live
She said Rocky I never had to die before don't know if I can do it
Now it's back to two again the little girl and I
Who looks so much like her sweet mother sometimes that makes me cry
I sleep alone at nights again I walk alone each day
And sometimes when I'm about to give in I hear her sweet voice say to me

Seul jusqu'à mes dix-huit ans, on s'est rencontrés il y a quatre printemps
Elle était timide et avait peur des choses qu'elle ne connaissait pas
Mais on s'est bien entendus d'une manière incroyable
On se tenait près l'un de l'autre la nuit et on échangeait nos rêves chaque jour
Elle a dit Rocky, je ne suis jamais tombée amoureuse avant, je ne sais pas si je peux le faire
Mais si tu me laisses m'appuyer sur toi, prends ma main, je pourrais y arriver, y arriver
J'ai dit bébé, oh douce bébé, c'est l'amour qui nous libère
Et Dieu sait que si le monde devait s'arrêter, ton amour est en sécurité avec moi
On a trouvé une vieille maison grise et tu ne croirais pas comment
On travaillait la nuit pour la retaper, on prenait des cours le jour
Peignant des murs et sirotant du vin, dormant par terre
Avec tant d'amour, mais trop tôt, on a découvert qu'il y en aurait un de plus
Et elle a dit Rocky...
On avait plein de problèmes à l'époque, mais on s'amusait beaucoup
Comme à la fête d'anniversaire quand notre petite fille a eu un an
J'étais fier et satisfait, la vie avait tant à offrir
Jusqu'au jour où on m'a dit qu'elle n'avait plus longtemps à vivre
Elle a dit Rocky, je n'ai jamais eu à mourir avant, je ne sais pas si je peux le faire
Maintenant, on est de nouveau deux, la petite fille et moi
Qui ressemble tant à sa douce mère, parfois ça me fait pleurer
Je dors seul la nuit encore, je marche seul chaque jour
Et parfois, quand je suis sur le point de céder, j'entends sa douce voix me dire
Rocky, tu sais...
