The Ark

DJ H-387 Project

The skies turned black, the wind began to blow
A warning whispered to a world below
But they kept on laughing, they turned their heads away
While one man labored, preparing for the day

He built it strong of gopher wood and pitch
A giant vessel in the dusty ditch
Two by two, they marched into the dark
The wild and gentle, entering the ark

Oh, let the rain fall, let the waters rise
We are lifted up beneath the stormy skies
Noah, build your ark, keep the hope alive
Through the deepest deluge, we will survive

The fountains of the deep burst wide and free
The mountains drowned beneath a rising sea
For forty days and forty nights it poured
But safe inside, they trusted in the lord

The wooden walls did creak against the wave
A floating cradle that was built to save
Lost in the grey, with nowhere left to stand
Waiting for the promise of a dry, new land

Oh, let the rain fall, let the waters rise
We are lifted up beneath the stormy skies
Noah, build your ark, keep the hope alive
Through the deepest deluge, we will survive

A raven flew, but found no place to rest
And then a dove was sent upon the quest
She returned at evening, flying through the dark
With a green olive branch back to the ark

Oh, let the rain fall, let the waters rise
We are lifted up beneath the stormy skies
Noah, build your ark, keep the hope alive
Through the deepest deluge, we will survive

The doors flew open to the morning light
A brand new world, beautiful and bright
And in the clouds, a promise painted high
A rainbow shining in the clear blue sky
