Tsavo Shadows

DoctorViper

In the dry cradle of Tsavo
Two brothers born without mane
Dust-colored fur, amber eyes
Hunting flank to flank in pain

They want the flesh and so it is fine
So it was and so it will always be
They want it and that's the way
Whatever they hunger, they claim

Deep must one hunt
If one wants warm blood
Shadow, oh Shadow
Darkness, oh Darkness
Deep must one hunt
When hunger calls loud
Shadow and Darkness
Tsavo bows down

Plague stole the herds away
Old bones, sick prey no more
One with broken tooth in fire
The other sniffs the human door

They taste and so it is fine
So it was and so it will always be
They taste and that's the law
Man is slow and soft and free

Deep must one hunt
If one wants warm blood
Shadow, oh Shadow
Darkness, oh Darkness
Deep must one hunt
When hunger calls loud
Shadow and Darkness
Tsavo bows down

Night cloaks their steps like smoke
Tents open wide in fear
They drag the screams to the dark
No roar, just silence near

One falls pierced by lead
The smaller one with wounded jaw
The greater waits alone in rage
Then comes the final draw

Deep must one hunt
If one wants warm blood
Shadow, oh Shadow
Darkness, oh Darkness
Deep must one hunt
Till the last breath is gone
Shadow and Darkness
Now silent and done

Tsavo remembers
Two without mane
In the night
