She was working in a bridal shop in Flushing Queens,
´til her boyfriend kicked her out in one of those crushing scenes.
What was she to do? Where was she to go? She was out on her fanny...
So over the bridge from Flushing to the Sheffield´s door.
She was there to sell make-up, but father saw more.
She had style! She had flair! She was there! That´s how she became the Nanny!
Who would have guessed that the girl we´ve described, was just exactly what the doctor prescribed?
Now the father finds her beguiling (watch out C.C.!)
and the kids are actually smiling (such joie de vivre!)
She is the lady in red when everybody else is wearing tan...

Ze werkte in een bruidswinkel in Flushing Queens,
Tot haar vriend haar eruit trapte in zo'n afschuwelijke scène.
Wat moest ze doen? Waar moest ze heen? Ze zat zonder geld...
Dus over de brug van Flushing naar de deur van de Sheffield's.
Ze was daar om make-up te verkopen, maar vader zag meer.
Ze had stijl! Ze had flair! Ze was daar! Zo werd ze de Nanny!
Wie had kunnen raden dat het meisje dat we beschrijven, precies was wat de dokter voorschreef?
Nu vindt de vader haar betoverend (pas op C.C.!)
en de kinderen glimlachen echt (zo'n joie de vivre!)
