Avistaram um monte e deram o nome de Pascoal
Os Jesuítas celebraram
A primeira Missa
Não perderam tempo, logo catequizaram
Os índios dessa terra tão bonita
Nos barcos, naus e caravelas navegavam
Pedro Álvares Cabral as liderava
Encontraram-se com os índios e se chocaram
Pois era muito diferente a vida que eles levavam
No início a relação entre eles
Era de paz
Ouro por espelho e outros objetos
Trocavam e os portugueses lucravam mais
Logo começou o conflito
Os portugueses escravizaram os índios
Pois queriam mão-de-obra barata
E a riqueza aqui se encontrava
Os índios começaram então a resistir
Ao trabalho forçado
Armas e epidemias mataram muitos índios
E muitos foram então escravizados

In the year 1500 something phenomenal
They sighted a hill and named it Pascoal
The Jesuits celebrated
The first Mass
They didn't waste time, soon they catechized
The natives of this beautiful land
They sailed on boats, ships, and caravels
Pedro Álvares Cabral led them
They met the natives and clashed
For the way of life they led was very different
At first, the relationship between them
Was peaceful
Gold for mirrors and other objects
They exchanged and the Portuguese profited more
Soon the conflict began
The Portuguese enslaved the natives
As they wanted cheap labor
And wealth was found here
The natives then began to resist
Forced labor
Weapons and epidemics killed many natives
And many were then enslaved
