The Friend

Eli Soares

O Amigo

O amigo que eu encontrei me surpreendeu
Quando todos me deixaram, Ele me acolheu
E sarou minhas feridas, das algemas me livrou
Lhe falei do meu dilema e Ele me escutou

Lhe falei do meu passado e me perdoou

Lhe falei do meu passado e me perdoou

The Friend

The friend I found took me by surprise
When everyone left me, He welcomed me
And He healed my wounds, freed me from my chains
I told Him all my troubles, and He listened to me

I spoke to Him about my past, and He forgave me
It came at a high price, one He's already paid
He showed me His wounded hands, scarred by love for many lives
And among those many lives was mine, yeah

Who in this world could have such a great love
That they'd give their own life without fear?
Who has felt the pain of being nailed to a cross
Paying for sins that weren't their own?

And who could look into the eyes of those who hurt Him most
And, without resentment, offer forgiveness?
Who could be a better friend than the Lord
Who gave up His very life for His servant?
Who could be a better friend than the Lord
Who gave up His very life for His servant?

I spoke to Him about my past, and He forgave me
It came at a high price, one He's already paid
He showed me His wounded hands, scarred by love for many lives
And among those many lives was mine, oh

Who in this world could have such a great love
That they'd give their own life without fear?
Who has felt the pain of being nailed to a cross
Paying for sins that weren't their own?

And who could look into the eyes of those who hurt Him most
And, without resentment, offer forgiveness?
Who could be a better friend than the Lord
Who gave up His very life for His servant?
Who could be a better friend than the Lord
Who gave up His very life for His servant?
