WHAT LIVING IS ALL ABOUT

Neil, would you come up here and stand beside me for a moment?
Several years ago, I came out of Church one Sunday morning
Met an airline pilot
He asked me a very simple question
He said: What are you really doing here?
I thought for a minute and I said: Well, we got small children
And we think it's important that they be in Sunday School
He said: If there's something here for them
Don't you think there might be something here for you?
How dare this guy challenge me on what I was doing every morning
But I went home, and after the anger subsided
I became more rational
And if I was honest with you tonight, I'm telling you
I set out to prove that there was no God
So that I could go to the golf course on Sunday morning
And not have my conscience bother me
But one day in frustration
Driving down I-95, going to work
I just looked up and said: God, I confess that I'm a sinner
If that's what selfishness is, then I'm a sinner
And you know what happened? Nothing
I didn't see any angels
I didn't hear the Heavenly choir
I didn't have any sense of peace, I just puttered on down the road
Went to work
Got home that night, I'd almost forgot about the incident
And I picked up my Bible, see, I'm still tryna prove there's no God
And somebody messed with my book
Somebody messed with my book
I understood things that I didn't understand the night before
That's right, that's right
It says in the fourth chapter of Second Corinthians
But there is a veil over the eyes of the unbeliever
That they can not discern the truth
But it says in the third chapter
When you turn in repentance, that veil is lifted
And that veil was lifted
And I became a new creature in Christ Jesus
And my, you bet there was a change in my life
A change in my value system
A change in my understanding
And certainly a change in my concept of this person of Christ
Have you had your veil lifted tonight?
Let me tell you the great tragedy in modern America
The great tragedy is that many of us have never taken the time
To find out what living is all about
To find out what living's all about
And to answer, maybe
What I consider to be the most important question in life
Is there a God, and if there is, what must I do to be related to Him?

¿Cómo se atreve este tipo a cuestionarme sobre lo que hacía cada mañana?
Pero llegué a casa, y después de que la ira se calmó
Me volví más racional
Y si soy honesto contigo esta noche, te digo
Me propuse demostrar que no había Dios
Para poder ir al campo de golf el domingo por la mañana
Y no sentirme culpable
Pero un día, en frustración
Conduciendo por la I-95, yendo al trabajo
Simplemente miré hacia arriba y dije: Dios, confieso que soy un pecador
Si eso es lo que es el egoísmo, entonces soy un pecador
¿Y sabes qué pasó? Nada
No vi ángeles
No escuché el coro celestial
No sentí ninguna paz, solo seguí mi camino
Fui al trabajo
Llegué a casa esa noche, casi había olvidado el incidente
Y tomé mi Biblia, ves, todavía estoy tratando de probar que no hay Dios
Y alguien jugó con mi libro
Alguien jugó con mi libro
Entendí cosas que no entendía la noche anterior
Así es, así es
Dice en el cuarto capítulo de Segunda de Corintios
Que hay un velo sobre los ojos del incrédulo
Que no pueden discernir la verdad
Pero dice en el tercer capítulo
Cuando te vuelves en arrepentimiento, ese velo se levanta
Y ese velo fue levantado
Y me convertí en una nueva criatura en Cristo Jesús
Y, claro, hubo un cambio en mi vida
Un cambio en mi sistema de valores
Un cambio en mi entendimiento
Y ciertamente un cambio en mi concepto de esta persona que es Cristo
¿Te han levantado el velo esta noche?
Déjame decirte la gran tragedia en la América moderna
La gran tragedia es que muchos de nosotros nunca hemos tomado el tiempo
Para descubrir de qué se trata vivir
Para descubrir de qué se trata vivir
Y para responder, tal vez
Lo que considero la pregunta más importante en la vida
¿Hay un Dios, y si lo hay, qué debo hacer para relacionarme con Él?
