YEAR ONE

Francisca Valenzuela

Entregarse y estar satisfecho, no durmiendo
No durmiendo
Despierto
Siendo
Viviendo
Aprendiendo

Surrender, surrender
Sweet surrender
Como ella
Que a la vida se entrega
Sin pedir nada de vuelta

¿Cuándo será que eso se desaparece?
Se desaprende
¿Cómo hacer que dure?
Quiero que siga
Y se acabe
Quiero que siga
Y que se acabe

Y llegó otra vez la primavera
Floreció otra vez la bugambilia
Los colores son los mismos
Pero ya no soy la misma
De antes
De antes

YEAR ONE

And spring has come again
And the bougainvillea bloomed once more
And the colors were the same
But the Sun shone differently on you

When I saw you with her sleeping in your arms
Finally, resting, finally
Her body surrendered against yours
Closing out year one

There’s no word for that, that surrender
To give in and be satisfied, not sleeping
Not sleeping
Awake
Being
Living
Learning

Surrender, surrender
Sweet surrender
Like her
Who gives herself to life
Without asking for anything in return

When will that disappear?
Unlearn it
How to make it last?
I want it to continue
And to end
I want it to continue
And to end

And spring has come again
The bougainvillea bloomed again
The colors are the same
But I’m not the same anymore
As before
As before
