Tem gente querendo e pensando, ser o dono da igreja
Tem gente até imaginando, que a igreja é sua empresa
Tem gente comprando e vendendo cadeira na igreja
Dizendo: Foi Deus quem me deu; essa é minha igreja
Tem gente levantando muros fechando a igreja
Dizendo: Ninguém entra aqui, esta é minha igreja
Mas a igreja é noiva de Jesus
É corpo santo tirada da cruz
Não adianta querer se apossar da igreja
Esta igreja não é de José
De Pedro, Paulo, nem também de João
Só Jesus Cristo pode assim dizer
É a minha igreja
A Igreja de Cristo não tem CGC nem bandeira
Tem vara, cajado e azeite na sua candeia
A Igreja é Morena e também ela é muito formosa
Não é verde, nem azul, nem cor de rosa
Não é dona de rádio e TV, nem está na internet
Jesus sabe quem ela é, meu Jesus a conhece

There are people wanting and thinking, to be the owner of the church
There are even people imagining, that the church is their business
There are people buying and selling chairs in the church
Saying: God gave it to me; this is my church
There are people raising walls closing the church
Saying: No one enters here, this is my church
But the church is the bride of Jesus
It is a holy body taken from the cross
It's no use trying to take possession of the church
This church is not Joseph's
Not Peter's, Paul's, nor John's either
Only Jesus Christ can say so
It's my church
The Church of Christ has no tax ID or flag
It has a rod, staff, and oil in its lamp
