Velho Ancião
Viajando em uma missão um velho ancião servo de Jesus Cristo
No deserto de um seco estado foi ele ordenado a fazer o batismo
Um pedido somente existia, mas com alegria seguia o destino
Ao chegar no lugar esperado, vieram os irmãos com um estranho pedido
Todo mundo bem desanimado, sorriso forçado e semblante caído
A Paz de Deus meu irmão ancião! Muita satisfação em vê-lo por aqui
Mas com grande pesar eu lhe digo que o santo batismo não deve existir
Nós só temos um poço com água e grande ameaça surgiu por aqui
O lugar se tornou perigoso, pois mora no poço uma sucuri
Ninguém vai assistir o batismo, até o convertido já quer desistir
Então disse o velho ancião: Vim com esta missão e ela eu vou cumprir
Certamente vou entrar na água e esperar a alma que vai emergir
Só depois que eu ver o indeciso rejeitar o batismo é que saio dali
Se tiver que morrer, morrerei, mas não desistirei por uma sucuri
O batismo já foi confirmado e não é o diabo que vai impedir
A palavra do velho ancião se espalhou no sertão, todo mundo escutou
Quando o culto ia começar ao redor do lugar muita gente chegou
Inspirado por Deus, o irmão um lindo sermão com bravura pregou
A irmandade, toda preocupada, ao Senhor clamava pelo seu favor
Foi chegando a hora do batismo e o servo ungido na água entrou
Uma cena muito comovente foi quando a serpente no velho enrolou
Ninguém sabe o que aconteceu, mas a cobra morreu quando nele tocou
Nem seus restos ninguém nunca viu, simplesmente sumiu desde que afundou
