And heed thy brother's call!
He cries to thee across the deep,
Where darkest shadows falls.
From sin and guilt and wretchedness
He knows not where to flee;
Go tell him how the Lord can bless!

Can aught but Jesus give him light
Or break his cruel bands?

Across the wide blue sea,
Where Macedonia's cry is heard!

To blind men send the light!
O let thy soul with ardor burn
To lead them to the right;
Then usher in that glorious day,

Despierta, oh cristiano, de tu sueño,
Y atiende el llamado de tu hermano!
Él te grita a través del abismo,
Donde caen las sombras más oscuras.
De pecado y culpa y miseria,
No sabe a dónde huir;
¡Ve y dile cómo el Señor puede bendecirlo!
Tu hermano te llama.
En la más profunda oscuridad y la noche más oscura,
Él levanta sus manos indefensas;
¿Puede algo más que Jesús darle luz
O romper sus crueles cadenas?
