La Plaza De Las Palmeras
La plaza de las palmeras
es el centro de la Tierra;
en la plaza siempre hay vida,
día, noche noche y dia.
La plaza de las palmeras
es la casa de una vieja,
una vieja muy borracha,
duerme, fuma, bebe y canta.
Hay bohemios en la plaza,
pobres, ricos y morenos,
vendedores ambulantes,
putas, listos y pendejos.
En la plaza, en una esquina,
vive Juan, el de María;
su terraza da a la plaza,
y en su casa siempre hay vida.
En los bares de la plaza
se comercia la mandanga,
jazz, flamenco, mambo y salsa
seún manda la demanda.
Hay jaleo en la plaza,
vino, whisky y tomateo,
y en la plaza siempre hay vida
dia y noche noche y dia.
The Palm Square
The palm square
is the center of the Earth;
there's always life in the square,
day, night night and day.
The palm square
is the house of an old lady,
a very drunk old lady,
she sleeps, smokes, drinks, and sings.
There are bohemians in the square,
poor, rich, and dark-skinned people,
street vendors,
whores, smart people, and idiots.
In the square, on a corner,
lives Juan, Maria's man;
his terrace overlooks the square,
and there's always life in his house.
In the bars of the square
they trade the good stuff,
jazz, flamenco, mambo, and salsa
as demand dictates.
There's a commotion in the square,
wine, whiskey, and tomato throwing,
and in the square there's always life
day and night night and day.
