Based on some music that I heard in a dream
That I saw in a dream

'Cause it's what the people in the dream were saying

It's like that, I heard the people singing that in a dream
Yeah, and it was a dream where I was in an auditorium at a college
And everybody was congregated and singing the same words
And there was this, y'know a bunch of
This band on stage and they were like, y'know, sorta spacey Deadhead band
With teen- y'know, like, guys in their twenties, like a bunch of grunge guys but
Kinda playing this, this, other thing, not like what I'm playing here on guitar
And the people kept on beating out, uh
Rhythms on drumsticks
This really great rhythm, it was in like, 7/4, this really cool space jam
And what it was, it was a song
I dreamed that this song was about, uh, about this guy, uh
Or, y'know, the person in the song is singing to his lover
Supposedly
That uh, y'know, he's completely theirs
The lover has forbidden anybody to have contact with him
The lover has taken away his freedom, taken away his days and nights
Taken away his, y'know, his dreams
Uh, sent away his friends
Forbidden him to, y'know, get close to his parents, all that stuff
And what it was, it was an AIDS rally
And that song was about AIDS
Or about something like that
So every time the refrain came around
The people would say "you and I, you and I, you and I"
And they point to the sign that said, y'know, like, it said AIDS with a circle with a slash through it
And they go "all for you"
They go like, point to the sign, so that was the dream
I woke up with it
'Kay?
Anyway, as long as you got that on tape, I'll remember that

C'est comme ça, j'ai entendu les gens chanter ça dans un rêve
Ouais, et c'était un rêve où j'étais dans un auditorium d'une fac
Et tout le monde était rassemblé en chantant les mêmes mots
Et il y avait cet, tu sais, un groupe sur scène et c'était comme,
Tu sais, un groupe un peu space, style Deadhead
Avec des gars dans la vingtaine, comme une bande de grunge mais
Jouant un, ce, autre truc, pas comme ce que je fais ici à la guitare
Et les gens continuaient à donner des coups, euh
Des rythmes avec des baguettes
Un rythme vraiment génial, c'était en 7/4, un super jam cosmique
Et ce que c'était, c'était une chanson
J'ai rêvé que cette chanson parlait de, euh, de ce gars, euh
Ou, tu sais, la personne dans la chanson chante à son amoureux
Soit disant
Que, euh, tu sais, il est complètement à lui
L'amoureux a interdit à quiconque de le contacter
L'amoureux lui a enlevé sa liberté, lui a pris ses jours et ses nuits
Lui a enlevé, tu sais, ses rêves
Euh, a éloigné ses amis
Lui a interdit, tu sais, de s'approcher de ses parents, tout ça
Et ce que c'était, c'était un rassemblement sur le sida
Et cette chanson parlait du sida
Ou de quelque chose comme ça
Donc chaque fois que le refrain arrivait
Les gens disaient "toi et moi, toi et moi, toi et moi"
Et ils pointaient vers le panneau qui disait, tu sais, ça disait sida avec un cercle barré
Et ils disaient "tout pour toi"
Ils faisaient comme, pointaient vers le panneau, donc c'était le rêve
Je me suis réveillé avec ça
