On Horseback

Joan Sebastian

A Caballo

Soy de a caballo, señores
Mas no vengo a presumirles
Escúchenme, valedores
Que tengo algo que decirles

Después de tanto porrazo
Que la vida me ha pegado
Algo podrán aprender
De este jinete afamado

Como todos ya sabemos
No cae el que no se sube
A mí me pasó lo peor
Por subírmele a una nube

Y no caí en lo blandito
No caí en lo parejo
Pero sirvió el porracito
Pa' quitarme lo

No elijan a su potranca
Nada más por la hermosura
Que sea bonita de anca
Y que de rienda no sea dura

Después de haber jineteado
Por praderas y montañas
Yo les juro que prefiero
Amansar que quitar mañas

Y esa yegua pajarera
La que me dio la patada
Ya la dejé que se fuera
Que se fuera a la manada

Esa yegua pajarera
Reventó un día el bozalillo
Yo la sigo procurando
Nomás porque es mío el potrillo

Soy de a caballo, señores
Y a caballo yo he venido
Vine a contarles un poco
De lo tanto que he vivido

Después de haber jineteado
Por praderas y montañas
Yo les juro que prefiero
Amansar que quitar mañas

Les repito que prefiero
Amansar que quitar mañas

On Horseback

I am a horse rider, gentlemen
But I'm not here to boast
Listen to me, friends
I have something to tell you

After so many blows
That life has hit me
They will be able to learn something
Of this famous rider

As we all know
He who does not climb does not fall
The worst thing happened to me
For getting on a cloud

And I didn't fall for the soft one
I didn't fall into the same
But the little bit worked
To take it off

Don't choose your filly
Just for the beauty
May she have a pretty hip
And that the reins are not harsh

After having ridden
Through meadows and mountains
I swear to you that I prefer
To tame than to remove bad habits

And that mare
The one who kicked me
I already let her go
Let him go to the herd

That aviary mare
One day the muzzle burst
I keep looking for it
Just because the colt is mine

I am a horse rider, gentlemen
And I have come on horseback
I came to tell you a little bit
From all that I have lived

After having ridden
Through meadows and mountains
I swear to you that I prefer
To tame than to remove bad habits

I repeat that I prefer
To tame than to remove bad habits
