Montevideo

Yo tengo pintada en la piel
la lágrima de esta ciudad,
la misma que dá de beber,
la misma te hará naufragar.

Yo tengo en la piel su sabor,
un leve resabio de sal,
que nunca he sabido esconder,
que nunca he sabido mirar.

Si dejo elegir a mis pies
me llevan camino del mar,
me llevan camino del mar,
me llevan camino del mar.

El mar que me trajo hasta aquí,
el puerto en que habré de zarpar,
un día pensando en volver,
un día volviendo a escapar.

Un día cualquiera me iré
dejando su lágrima atrás
la pena que me haga partir
la misma me hará regresar.

Si dejo elegir a mis pies
me llevan camino del mar,
me llevan camino del mar,
me llevan camino del mar.

Montevideo

I have painted on my skin
the tear of this city,
the same that gives to drink,
the same that will make you shipwreck.

I have on my skin its taste,
a slight hint of salt,
that I have never known how to hide,
that I have never known how to look at.

If I let my feet choose
they take me on the path to the sea,
they take me on the path to the sea,
they take me on the path to the sea.

The sea that brought me here,
the port from which I will set sail,
one day thinking of returning,
one day escaping again.

Any day I will leave
leaving its tear behind,
the sorrow that makes me leave
will be the same that makes me return.

If I let my feet choose
they take me on the path to the sea,
they take me on the path to the sea,
they take me on the path to the sea.
