Sea and Sea

Lluís Llach

Maremar

Maremar, feu-vos present
a l'altar del meu paisatge.
Maremar, que els antics déus
avui són molt lluny de casa.
Un tro per la recança,
un port per la ferida,
i per l'amor, la cala.

Maremar, doneu-nos vent
hi ha demà i vela blanca,
Maremar, i si pot ser
ni oragà, ni massa calma.
Que el temps és curt i passa
com una estranya dansa
de pas sense petjada.

Mira com ve l'aire
que et vol convidar al seu ball.
Gira i vés enlaire,
núvol d'esperança blanc.
Pren-lo i embriaga't

Gira i vés enlaire,
núvol d'esperança blanc.
Pren-lo i embriaga't
amb la seva flaire
com només ho fa un amant.
Mira com ve l'aire
que et vol convidar al seu ball.

Sea and Sea

Sea and Sea, make yourselves present
at the altar of my landscape.
Sea and Sea, the ancient gods
are very far from home today.
A hole for the longing,
a port for the wound,
and for love, the cove.

Sea and Sea, give us wind
there is tomorrow and a white sail,
Sea and Sea, and if possible
neither storm, nor too calm.
For time is short and passes
like a strange dance
of steps without a trace.

Look how the air comes
wanting to invite you to its dance.
Turn and go up,
cloud of white hope.
Take it and intoxicate yourself
with its scent
as only a lover does.
Look how the air comes
wanting to invite you to its dance.

Sea and Sea, give us peace,
but with the strength of the olive tree.
That never puts its green-blue branches
in the hand of one who would subdue it.
Let's fill the boat with stars,
but may a heavy load
not damage our nets.

Look how the air comes
wanting to invite you to its dance.
Turn and go up,
cloud of white hope.
Take it and intoxicate yourself
with its scent
as only a lover does.
Look how the air comes
wanting to invite you to its dance.
