Correntino Until Death

Los Chalchaleros

Correntino Hasta Morir

Me invitaron y probé
de conocer otros pagos,
de otros lugares me hablaron
y les juro me tente.

A mi Corrientes dejé
pensando cambiar de vida,
le juro que no daría
por volver allí otra vez.
Qué lindas deben estar
Bella Vista, Asti, Salada,
Mercedes, Berón de Astrada,
Itatí, General Paz.
Cuando empiezo a recordar
sueño con volver allí,
yo he nacido en Taragüi
y nadie me hará cambiar.
Me ha de extrañar, ya lo sé,
el río Santa Lucía,
le dije que volvería
a ser nutriero, tal vez.
Con el hacha me han de ver
por los pagos de Empedanto,
y al quebracho colorado
en su puerto cargaré.

Correntino Until Death

I was invited and I tried
to get to know other places,
they talked to me about other places
and I swear I was tempted.

I left my Corrientes
thinking of changing my life,
I swear I wouldn't
want to go back there again.

How beautiful they must be
Bella Vista, Asti, Salada,
Mercedes, Berón de Astrada,
Itatí, General Paz.

When I start to remember
I dream of going back there,
I was born in Taragüi
and no one will make me change.

I know I will be missed,
by the Santa Lucía river,
I told them I would return
to be a cattleman, maybe.

They will see me with the axe
around the lands of Empedanto,
and I will load the red quebracho
in its port.
