Of Espadrilles and Chupayas

Los Chalchaleros

De Alpargatas Y Chupayas

Hay un aire de vendimia
por los cuyanos caminos
regalando ese olorcito
que le pertenece al vino.

En surcos desorillados
la viña luce primores
negro, blancos, y rosados
de frutos embriagadores.

Estribillo

Lagares y bordalesas
acaricia el bodeguero
gatos, cuecas y tonadas
va punteando el guitarrero.
De alpargatas y chupayas
cara al sol tacho y tijeras
cogoyitos de esperanzas
cada cual por su hilera

Que no se pierda el racimo
en las tierras que venero
Baco reclama su copa
rebalsada con patero

Of Espadrilles and Chupayas

There's a harvest breeze
through the Cuyano roads
giving off that little scent
that belongs to the wine.

In the unplowed furrows
the vineyard shines with beauty
black, white, and rosé
of intoxicating fruits.

Chorus

Wineries and borders
are caressed by the winemaker
cats, cuecas, and tonadas
are strummed by the guitarist.

With espadrilles and chupayas
facing the sun, bucket and scissors
little hopes in hand
each one in their row.

Don't let the bunch get lost
in the lands I hold dear
Bacchus calls for his cup
overflowing with homemade wine.
