The Three Roosters

Los Tigres del Norte

Los Tres Gallos

Procedentes de Jalisco
Llegaron a Mazatlán
Eran tres gallos jugados
Que les gustaba pasear
Eran hombres del momento
No les gustaba esperar

Dijo Abelardo a Eliseo
Esto no me está gustando
Oigo graznidos de buitre
Allá por el centenario
Avísale a Javier Barba
Que se vaya preparando

Como a las 2 de la tarde
Le dieron muerte a Abelardo
Después le tocó a Eliseo
Los mataron a mansalva
Hubo soldados heridos
También hirieron a Barba

Decía Javier malherido
Cuando casi agonizaba
No llegaron los amigos
Los que tanto me apreciaban
Si estuviera aquí el Corita
Otro gallo nos cantará

Cómo la ves marinero
Cayeron tres tiburones
Cayeron fuera del agua
Por unos dedos traidores
La envidia no es buen pesebre
Para engordar camarones

Adiós Javier y Abelardo
También el güero Salcido
Porque eran tres gallos finos
Les dedicó este corrido
Que vivieron a su modo
Y ni modo, los perdimos

The Three Roosters

Coming from Jalisco
They arrived in Mazatlán
They were three bold roosters
Who loved to strut around
They were the men of the hour
They didn’t like to wait

Abelardo said to Eliseo
This isn’t feeling right
I hear the cawing of vultures
Over by the centennial
Let Javier Barba know
To get himself ready

Around 2 in the afternoon
Abelardo was killed
Then it was Eliseo’s turn
They took them down like dogs
There were soldiers wounded
Barba got hit too

Javier, badly hurt, said
As he was near death
My friends didn’t show up
The ones who cared for me
If Corita were here
Another rooster would sing for us

What do you think, sailor?
Three sharks went down
They fell out of the water
Because of some treacherous fingers
Envy isn’t a good feed
To fatten up shrimp

Goodbye Javier and Abelardo
And also the blond Salcido
Because they were three fine roosters
This ballad is for them
They lived life their way
And well, we lost them.
