To break down borders with my song
I’ll open wide my heart
I left the graves of my parents, my grandparents
I arrived crying in this Anglo land
I was working, my kids were growing up
They were all born under this great nation
And my rights have been trampled on
They keep making laws that twist the constitution
What will I do when I'm old if they take my money?
I just want my pension plan
But what does it matter if I'm a new citizen?
I’m still Mexican like pulque and cactus
And my Central and South American brothers
Caribbean or Cuban bring that tropical blood

A salty tear welled up in my heart
That burned me from within
Two flags troubled me
One green, white, and red with the eagle stamped
The other with its blue full of stars
With its red and white stripes engraved
The flag of my children who joyfully looked at me
