Usaba su sombra como pizarra
Y la tiza era cal de un viejo paredón
Escribía la lección cuando encontraba
El Sol de frente para hacer la proyección
Usaba su sombra como pizarrón
Y se iba por los pueblos y enseñaba
A los niños más lejos de la educación
Decían que su esposa lo mismo hacía
Que eran matrimonio, profesora y profesor
Y los niños de los barrios los amaban
Porque daban en la calle su lección
Y las piedras eran ábacos y mapas
Y su sombra siempre era el pizarrón
Profesores, atención a esta enseñanza

Used his shadow as a blackboard
And the chalk was lime from an old wall
He wrote the lesson when he found
