Cenas do Calvário
Pela fé
contemplei no Calvário meu Jesus pregado na cruz,
esvair-se em dor.
Seu olhar,
exprimindo um amor tão profundo,
pela humanidade que o desprezou.
Vi também, a coroa de espinhos, ferindo,
e o povo sorrindo sem ter compaixão.
Vi os cravos nas mãos e nos pés;
vi suportando afrontas cruéis.
Não gemeu, não abriu sua boca.
Sofreu por me amar.
Eu vi a hora em que o crucificaram;
vi os carrascos que ali blasfemaram,
vi quando o sangue jorrou sobre a rua central de Jerusalém.
Vi as mulheres chorando por ele,
vi perdoando aos que batiam nele.
Vi quando enfim entregou seu espírito, ao Pai e expirou.
Eu chorei vendo as cenas terríveis da cruz.
E o amor de Jesus capaz de perdoar.
Quem lhe bateu, quem feriu, e cuspiu em seu rosto,
fez atrocidades, fez sangue jorrar.
Foi então que ele olhou para mim com amor,
e disse o meu valor que eu pensava não ter.
Com seu sangue ele me resgatou.
Foi a mais linda cena de amor.
Sua história mudou minha história, porque me salvou
Scenes of Calvary
By faith
I contemplated at Calvary my Jesus nailed to the cross,
draining in pain.
His gaze,
expressing a love so deep,
for humanity that despised him.
I also saw the crown of thorns, piercing,
and the people smiling without compassion.
I saw the nails in his hands and feet;
saw him enduring cruel insults.
He did not groan, did not open his mouth.
He suffered because he loved me.
I saw the moment they crucified him;
saw the executioners blaspheming there,
saw when the blood flowed on the central street of Jerusalem.
Saw the women crying for him,
saw him forgiving those who struck him.
Saw when he finally surrendered his spirit to the Father and expired.
I cried seeing the terrible scenes of the cross.
And Jesus' love capable of forgiving.
Who hit him, who hurt him, and spat on his face,
did atrocities, made blood flow.
It was then that he looked at me with love,
and told me my worth that I thought I didn't have.
With his blood, he redeemed me.
It was the most beautiful scene of love.
His story changed my story, because he saved me
