Para el amor no existen fronteras
Hoy quiero contar una pequeña historia
Que sucedió hace mucho tiempo en un reino sin memoria
Existía una princesa de belleza sorprendente
Sus padres eran los reyes más ricos del continente
Y no lejos del castillo vivía un muchacho
En una pequeña casa sin sala ni despacho
Su madre costurera y su padre agricultor
Él ocupaba el papel de ser hermano mayor
Lo poco que ganaban no alcanzaba
Y sus padres que eran ancianos con el tiempo se enfermaban
Él debía ponerse a cargo de su casa cuanto antes
Y en la guardia del palacio se ofrecían unas vacantes
Él tenía buena estatura y le gustaba el ejercicio
Por eso pensaba que serviría para este oficio
Se enlistó, su desempeño dejó a todos muy conformes
Y al cabo de unas semanas pudo estrenar su uniforme
Era un lunes, un día tranquilo en el castillo
Lo ascendieron a un trabajo envidiable y muy sencillo
Tenía que resguardar la habitación de la princesa
Lástima, tenía prohibido platicar con la realeza
Pero sucedió algo que nunca antes pensó
No fue él, fue la doncella quien le habló
Le dijo: “Hola, sé que no puedes hablarme
Pero quiero conocer al hombre que va a cuidarme”
Algo nervioso se sintió, pero le respondió
Le contó acerca de él, del hogar donde creció
Él no tenía demasiado, pero nada le faltaba
Ella lo tenía todo, pero sentía no tener nada
Las fechas pasaban, y a pesar de sus diferencias
La química crecía no por gustos ni por ciencia
Sus largas conversaciones forjaron un fuerte lazo
El destino se encargo de hacer todo paso por paso

Se acercaba en el calendario “El festival de las naciones”
En él siempre se reunían reyes de todas las regiones
La soberanía del reino con otro tenía un problema
Y era la oportunidad de darle solución al tema
Muchas veces los conflictos causaban muchas matanzas
Por eso el mejor camino fue pactar una alianza
El otro rey también un heredero tenía
Y como firma del acuerdo con su hija se casaría
La princesa se enteró de la noticia aquella noche
El rey le advirtió que no aceptaría ningún reproche
Ella no consentía esa arbitraria decisión
Pero casarse salvaría de la guerra a su nación
Ella sabía que, aunque parecía un amor prohibido
Los sentimientos hacia el guardia más y más habían crecido
Eran dos mundos distintos que la vida había juntado
Y no quería decirle adiós sin antes haber luchado
Ella tenía en mente desobedecer
Pues a parte del muchacho a nadie más podía querer
Quería escapar de su jaula de oro
Y no le importaba perder sus riquezas ni tesoros
El joven al enterarse lo que ella planeaba
Intentó desanimarla para que reflexionara
Él era muy realista y aunque la quería
Él nunca podría brindarle la vida que merecía
Sintió que por su culpa ella su futuro arruinaba
Pues viviendo con los reyes a ella nada le faltaba
Quizás si él se alejaba ella mejor estaría
Por eso renunció al trabajo la tarde del mismo día
Ella al saber que se fue no lo entendía
Nunca pasó por su cabeza que él se marcharía
El joven que tanto amaba quizás solo le mintió
Y entre llanto y desconsuelo a perderlo se resignó

El chico volvió a ayudar a su padre en sus cultivos
Y de la boda en el castillo se hacían los preparativos
La doncella no deseaba ser obligada al compromiso
Aunque su decepción de amor le dejó un corazón sumiso
Faltaba tan solo un día para su celebración
Y en la mañana su futuro esposo llegó
Los reyes los presentaron, pues ni se conocían
Los ojos de él reflejaban que también algo escondía
Se notaba muy callado y con un rostro de tristeza
Era algo muy similar a la actitud de la princesa
El príncipe le pidió que por favor lo perdonara
Pero él solo se casaría con la mujer que amaba
Que no importaba qué dijeran, no se iba a dejar mandar
Y la princesa tampoco se quería casar
Los dos príncipes entonces enfrentaron a sus padres
Y no habría ya una guerra pues nadie sería el culpable
Ambos reyes aceptaron esa petición
E igual la alianza se mantuvo sin ninguna condición
“El festival de las naciones” terminaba
Y la doncella en el muchacho cada instante pensaba
La princesa no olvidaba lo que sucedió
Pero una tarde la sirvienta una carta le entregó
Al ver la forma de escribir supo que el joven la había enviado
En ella le explicaba todo lo que había pasado
Le dijo que la amaba con el corazón
Y que la abandonó por una sola razón
Darle una vida con lujos nunca podría
Pues su única riqueza era el amor que sentía
Algo tenía muy claro la princesa
Su padre solo aceptaría a un hombre de la realeza
Por eso junto al muchacho escapó en la madrugada
Y huyeron lejos del reino a vivir su cuento de hadas

It wasn't him, it was the maiden who spoke to him
