The Common Decency
May I submit for, for your consideration
A thought was born from, from desperation?
I mean, now all ya gotta do is take a minute to see,
The world we're living in's not trouble free
The common decency to do what you can
In some small way to help your fellow man
To try to make some sort of contribution
Not be part of the problem, but part of the solution
The common decency, now is that still in existence?
A little bit would go, would go a healthy distance
And head us all into the right direction,
Common decency could stand some further inspection
This thought is vague, I know
And I know the chances are
And I know that there's a chance
This thought might not get far
Just give the thought a shot
A shot will not lose sight
The world we're living in
won't lose it's troubles overnight
The common decency, just lend a hand
In some small way there's such a great demand
A great demand for any hand you can land
And one by one we watch the troubles end
The common decency, now is that still in existence?

¿Puedo presentar, para tu consideración,
Un pensamiento nacido de la desesperación?
Quiero decir, ahora todo lo que tienes que hacer es tomarte un minuto para ver,
Que el mundo en el que vivimos no está libre de problemas.
La decencia común de hacer lo que puedas
De alguna manera para ayudar a tu prójimo,
Intentar hacer alguna contribución
No ser parte del problema, sino parte de la solución.
La decencia común, ¿todavía existe?
Un poco iría, iría una buena distancia
Y nos llevaría a todos en la dirección correcta,
La decencia común podría necesitar una inspección más profunda.
Este pensamiento es vago, lo sé
Y sé que las posibilidades son
Y sé que hay una posibilidad
De que este pensamiento no llegue lejos.
Solo dale una oportunidad al pensamiento
Una oportunidad no perderá de vista
El mundo en el que vivimos
No perderá sus problemas de la noche a la mañana.
La decencia común, solo echa una mano
De alguna manera hay una gran demanda
Una gran demanda de cualquier mano que puedas encontrar
Y uno por uno vemos los problemas terminar.
