The Masked Man

Miguel Aceves Mejía

El Enmascarado

Ya salió el nuevo corrido
Otra hazaña del bandido
Que asaltó la mina de oro

El famoso enmascarado
Penetró con su caballo
A la hacienda del arroyo
Y acabó con el ganado

Otro aviso de amenaza
Con la punta de una daga
Que clavó su propia mano
Fue señal de la matanza
Que causó el enmascarado
Al que nadie vio la cara
Mientras él vació el poblado

Lo persiguieron muchos hombres
Hasta llegar al pedregal
Pero en la cumbre de Las Flores
No lo pudieron alcanzar

Y como el diablo es buen amigo
De los que lucha por el mal
Lo protegió por el camino
Dándole tiempo de escapar

Una cueva bien tapada
De cortinas hechas de agua
Que revientan ancho río
Es la casa del bandido
A mitad de la cascada
Con quinientos pies de altura
De la gruta Cerro de Oro

Nadie sabe los misterios
Del famoso enmascarado
Por aquellos voladeros
Los que se han aventurado
Han servido de alimento
A los buitres y a los cuervos
Que se ven volar por dentro

Lo persiguieron nuevamente
Cuando lo vieron asaltar
Pero de nuevo tuvo suerte
Lo andan buscando sin cesar

Y como dice mucha gente
Que lo que digo es la verdad
Yo les ofrezco estar pendiente
De lo que pase en realidad.

The Masked Man

The new ballad's out
Another feat of the outlaw
Who robbed the gold mine

The famous masked man
Rode in on his horse
To the ranch by the stream
And wiped out the cattle

Another threat's been sent
With the tip of a dagger
That he drove into his own hand
It was a sign of the slaughter
Caused by the masked man
Whose face no one ever saw
While he emptied the town

Many men chased him down
Until they reached the rocky ground
But at the peak of Las Flores
They couldn't catch up to him

And just like the devil's a good friend
To those who fight for the bad
He protected him on the way
Giving him time to escape

A well-hidden cave
With curtains made of water
That burst from a wide river
Is the bandit's home
Halfway up the waterfall
Five hundred feet high
From the cave Cerro de Oro

No one knows the mysteries
Of the famous masked man
For those who dared to venture
Over those cliffs
Have served as food
For the vultures and crows
That you see flying around

They chased him again
When they saw him robbing
But once more he got lucky
They're searching for him non-stop

And as many people say
That what I say is the truth
I offer to keep an eye out
For what really goes down.
