A great and mighty wonder
Our Christmas festal brings:
On earth a lowly infant,
Behold the King of kings!
The Word is made incarnate,
Descending from on high;
And cherubim sing anthems
To shepherds from the sky.
And we with them, triumphant,
Repeat the hymn again:
"To God on high be glory,
And peace on earth to men!"
While thus they sing your Monarch,
Those bright angelic bands,
Rejoice, ye vales and mountains!
Ye oceans, clap your hands!
Since all He comes to ransom,
By all be He adored;
The Infant born in Bethlehem,
The Savior and the Lord!
And idol forms shall perish,
And error shall decay,
And Christ shall wield His scepter,
Our Lord and God for aye
Un Gran y Poderoso Asombro
Un gran y poderoso asombro
Nuestra festividad navideña trae:
En la tierra un humilde infante,
¡Contemplen al Rey de reyes!
La Palabra se hace carne,
Descendiendo desde lo alto;
Y los querubines entonan himnos
A los pastores desde el cielo.
Y nosotros con ellos, triunfantes,
Repetimos el himno de nuevo:
¡A Dios en lo alto sea la gloria,
Y paz en la tierra a los hombres!
Mientras así cantan a vuestro Monarca,
Esas brillantes bandas angelicales,
¡Regocijaos, valles y montañas!
¡Mares, aplaudid con vuestras manos!
Ya que por todos Él viene a redimir,
Por todos Él sea adorado;
El Niño nacido en Belén,
¡El Salvador y el Señor!
Y las formas de ídolos perecerán,
Y el error se desvanecerá,
Y Cristo empuñará su cetro,
Nuestro Señor y Dios por siempre jamás
