Un baile a beneficio (La podrida)
Con el lungo Pantaleón, Pepino y el Loco Juan,
el Peludo Santillán, Tito y el Chueco Ramón,
salimos con la intención de ir a un bailongo fulero
a beneficio de un reo que se hallaba engayolado
en Devoto y acusado por asuntos de choreo.
Al buffet por la bebida fui yo, Tito y el Peludo,
que ya estaba medio mudo de la curda que tenía;
pero ahí encontré una cría chupando que daba gusto.
Estaba el violero Augusto, Gatillo, el cortao Potranca
y el Zordo, tenia una tranca que de verlo daba susto.
En el el ambiente de minas estaban las de Mendieta
con la flaca Pañoleta, la Paja Brava y la China,
Pichuta, la Golondrina, la mechera Encarnación,
la gorda del Corralón, Sarita de la Cortada,
la Grela de Puñalada, y la Parda del Callejón.
Era un ambiente bastante, bastante someria el ambiente.
Entre el baile, meta y ponga, esta brava muchachada;
Con cortes y con quebradas se mandaban la milonga
Una morocha mistonga bailando con un chabón,
le dio al Loco un pisotón propiamente en el juanete:
si Santillán no se mete el Loco, el Loco le da un piñón.
Pero el chabón muy careta al Loco le dio un sopapo;
cayó el loco como un sapo haciendo sonar la jeta.
Intervino Pañoleta para aliviar la cuestión,
El chabón parao un rincón se las quería picar,
pero lo hizo sonar de un tortazo Pantaleón.
Pronto se armó la podrida: piñas, trompadas, tortazos...
Santillán tiró un balazo con un chumbo que traía.
Toda la gente corría, quedó la casa pelada;
pa' terminar la velada yo me chorié un bandoneón,
un Piloto, Pantaleón, y el Loco la jeta hinchada.
A benefit dance (The rotten one)
With Lungo Pantaleón, Pepino and Crazy Juan,
Hairy Santillán, Tito and Crooked Ramón,
we went with the intention of going to a lousy dance
for the benefit of a prisoner who was locked up
in Devoto and accused of theft matters.
At the buffet for drinks were me, Tito and Hairy,
who was already half drunk from the booze he had;
but there I found a girl sucking that was a pleasure.
There was the guitarist Augusto, Gatillo, the cut Potranca
and Zordo, he had a club that was scary to see.
In the environment of women were those from Mendieta
with the skinny Pañoleta, the Brave Straw and the China,
Pichuta, the Swallow, the thief Encarnación,
the fat one from the Corralón, Sarita from the Cut,
Grela from Stabbing, and the Brown from the Alley.
It was quite a somber atmosphere.
Between the dance, back and forth, this brave bunch;
With cuts and twists they sent the tango
A mixed-race brunette dancing with a guy,
she gave Crazy a proper stomp on the bunion:
if Santillán doesn't get involved, Crazy will punch him.
But the guy very pretentious gave Crazy a slap;
Crazy fell like a toad making his face ring.
Pañoleta intervened to ease the situation,
The guy stood in a corner wanting to fight,
but Pantaleón made him ring with a slap.
Soon the rotten one started: punches, blows, slaps...
Santillán fired a shot with a gun he had.
Everyone ran away, the house was empty;
to end the evening I stole a bandoneon,
a Pilot, Pantaleón, and Crazy with a swollen face.
