À Senhora de Aparecida

Venho cantar meu canto, cheio de amor e vida

Venho louvar aquela a quem chamo Senhora de Aparecida

Venho louvar Maria, Mãe do Libertador

Venho louvar a Virgem de cor morena, por seu amor

Quero lembrar os fatos que aconteceram naquele dia

Quando por entre as redes, aquela imagem aparecia

Vendo surgir das águas a tosca imagem de negra cor

Agradeceram todos à Mãe de Cristo por tanto amor

Quero entender o culto que começou desde aquele dia

Muitos não compreendem, dizendo ser uma idolatria

Mas neste simbolismo daquela imagem de negra cor

Chega-se com Maria ao santuário do Salvador

Venho louvar a Virgem de cor morena, por seu amor

Torno a lembrar os fatos que agora tocam a tanta gente

Esta Senhora humilde, de cor morena, se fez presente

Numa nação, aonde imperava a mancha da escravidão

Nossa Senhora escura nos diz que o Cristo nos quer irmãos

Hoje que eu vejo gente voltar contente de Aparecida

Penso na minha Igreja com os pequenos comprometida

Penso nas diferenças que ainda ferem o meu país

Peço que a Mãe do Cristo conduza o povo ao final feliz

Hoje eu me fiz romeiro sem ilusão e sem utopia

Fui visitar a casa que construíram pra Mãe Maria

E no meu jeito simples de entender esta devoção

Virgem morena, eu disse: Conduz meu povo à libertação

I come to praise the one I call Lady of Aparecida

I come to praise Mary, Mother of the Liberator

I come to praise the Virgin of dark skin, for her love

I want to remember the events that happened on that day

When through the nets, that image appeared

Seeing emerge from the waters the rough image of black color

Everyone thanked the Mother of Christ for so much love

I want to understand the worship that began since that day

Many do not understand, saying it is idolatry

But in the symbolism of that image of black color

One arrives with Mary at the sanctuary of the Savior

I come to sing my song, full of love and life

I come to praise the one I call Lady of Aparecida

I come to praise Mary, Mother of the Liberator

I come to praise the Virgin of dark skin, for her love

I remember the events that now touch so many people

This humble Lady, of dark skin, made herself present

In a nation where the stain of slavery prevailed

Our dark-skinned Lady tells us that Christ wants us to be brothers

Today as I see people return happily from Aparecida

I think of my Church committed to the little ones

I think of the differences that still hurt my country

I ask that the Mother of Christ lead the people to a happy ending

I come to praise the Virgin of dark skin, for her love

Today I became a pilgrim without illusion and without utopia

I went to visit the house they built for Mother Mary

And in my simple way of understanding this devotion

Dark Virgin, I said: Lead my people to liberation
